Weld Plug Plants Reseda luteola
Common names include dyer’s rocket, yellow weed, and woold.
Bring vertical interest and a touch of history to your garden or wildflower area with this tall, elegant biennial. Weld produces spikes of small, yellow-green flowers from June to August, rising above a rosette of narrow leaves. These flower spikes are not only striking but also highly attractive to pollinators, including bees and hoverflies.
Weld has a long history as one of the oldest known dye plants, valued for the brilliant yellow it produces – a favourite of traditional dyers for centuries. It thrives in poor, well-drained soils and full sun, making it an excellent choice for dry banks, wildflower meadows, and low-fertility sites where other plants may struggle.
Our strong, healthy plants are grown in 40cc cell trays and are ready to be planted in their final position.
Sourced from native UK seed and grown locally, these plug plants are an easy way to introduce this distinctive biennial to your garden or meadow where seed germination can sometimes be unreliable.
We recommend planting 5 - 7 plugs per square metre in groups of at least 3 per species for a naturalistic effect.
