Skullcap Plug Plants Scutellaria galericulata

Common names include common skullcap, marsh skullcap or hooded skullcap.

Skullcap is a beautiful, hardy perennial that brings charm to your garden. Known for its delicate spikes of blue-purple flowers, skullcap is not only a visual delight but also valued for its calming properties. Often used in herbal medicine, its leaves and flowers have been traditionally recognized for their soothing effects on the mind and body. The plant’s lush, green foliage provides a lovely backdrop for other garden plants, and its upright growth habit makes it perfect for adding height and texture.

Skullcap thrives in well-drained soil and partial to full sun, making it an excellent choice for woodland, cottage, or medicinal gardens. Once established, it’s low-maintenance and can tolerate drought, needing little more than occasional watering.

Our strong, healthy plants are grown in 40cc cell trays and are ready to be planted in their final position.

Sourced from native seed and grown for us in the UK, our plug plants are an ideal way to boost species in a wildflower meadow or to easily establish plants in your garden or in areas where seed germination can be erratic.

We recommend planting 5 plugs per metre square in groups of at least 3 per species for a naturalistic look.
