Description
Quaking Grass Plug Plants Briza media
Common names include trembling grass and cow-quakes.
A delicate, ornamental perennial grass with distinctive heart-shaped flower heads that tremble and dance in the slightest breeze. Blooming from June to August, quaking grass adds movement and texture to meadows, borders, and wildlife-friendly gardens. Its graceful seed heads provide food and shelter for insects and birds later in the season.
Thriving in full sun and well-drained soils, this drought-tolerant species is ideal for dry grasslands, wildflower meadows, and naturalistic planting schemes. Quaking grass establishes easily and blends beautifully with wildflowers, softening any planting scheme with its elegant form.
Our strong, healthy plug plants are grown in 40cc cell trays and are ready for planting directly into their final position.
Sourced from UK-grown native stock, these plugs are perfect for restoring species-rich grasslands or adding subtle movement to garden spaces.
We recommend planting 5–7 plugs per square metre in groups for a natural effect.
