Description
Pendulous Sedge Plug Plants Carex pendula
Common names include pendulous sedge and weeping sedge.
A bold, architectural native sedge that brings drama and movement to damp, shaded areas and pond margins. Pendulous sedge forms large, arching clumps of evergreen foliage, with graceful, drooping flower spikes from May to July that sway elegantly in the breeze. Its dense tussocks provide excellent cover for wildlife and contribute to the natural structure of woodland edges and wetland habitats.
Thriving in moist or seasonally wet soils and partial shade, this robust species is ideal for naturalistic planting schemes, and stabilising stream banks or pond edges.
Our strong, healthy plug plants are grown in 40cc cell trays and are ready for planting in their final position.
Sourced from native UK seed and grown locally, these plugs are an easy way to introduce this striking sedge to your garden or wild space.
We recommend planting 5-7 plugs per square metre in groups for a naturalistic effect.
