Modified Grassland Seed Mix
This grass-dominated seed mix has been developed to support the creation of durable modified grassland on a wide range of soil types, including moderate to high fertility sites. It is suitable for amenity areas, improved pastures, and Biodiversity Net Gain projects targeting g4 habitat, and particularly where species-rich grassland is not achievable or appropriate. The mix is designed to establish a robust, hard-wearing sward that provides reliable ground cover under a variety of management regimes.
Dominated by productive and competitive grass species such as perennial ryegrass, timothy and meadow grasses, the mix ensures rapid establishment and long-term resilience. A small proportion of widespread wildflowers, including clovers, yarrow and ribwort plantain, is included to provide modest ecological value while maintaining a stable, grass-led sward typical of modified grassland.
The mix performs well under regular mowing, amenity management or grazing, and is tolerant of higher nutrient levels and more intensive use. Final vegetation composition will depend on soil conditions and management, but the mix is designed to deliver a consistent and defensible modified grassland outcome with minimal input constraints.
