Description
English Yew | Taxus baccata
For a single row of hedging, you will need 4 plants per metre; for a double row of hedging, you will need 6 plants per metre.
The elegant native English yew is a British classic, and the most popular choice of conifer for hedging. Resilient and easy to grow, this versatile, long-lived evergreen shrub fits well into any style of garden.
With year-round interest, and dense, evergreen growth, English yew is perfect for creating stunning topiary features as well as making an excellent boundary hedge.
Growing well in most soil conditions, in full sun to full shade, yew hedging is relatively low-maintenance and easy to trim, and makes a good barrier against wind, noise and pollution.
Young plants need to be well watered. The small red fruits which appear in the autumn are harmful to humans, pets and livestock if eaten.
Our English yew plants are grown in the UK from UK origin seed.
