Dogwood | Cornus sanguinea

For a single row of hedging, you will need 4 plants per metre; for a double row of hedging, you will need 6 plants per metre.

A great addition to a native hedgerow, dogwood is useful for damp sites but will thrive in most soils.

It’s straight slim twigs can be bright vivid crimson in the sun and it is a popular ornamental plant used in gardens to give autumn and winter colour.

Dogwood attracts an abundance of wildlife and has all-year-round interest, with small creamy white flowers in the spring which are attractive to pollinators, and small black berries in the autumn which are a good food source for birds and small mammals.

Pruning – in spring, before the buds appear, remove almost one third of the stem.

Our dogwood whips are grown in the UK from UK origin seed.
