Broad Buckler Fern Dryopteris dilatata

A native deciduous fern which thrives in cool, moist, light shady sites such as damp woodlands and beside streams. If site has plenty of moisture, it will grow in full sun.

The dark green fronds are roughly triangular and Broad Buckler fern can be identified by its triangular scales on the leaf-stalk which have a dark brown centre.

An attractive addition to cottage and informal gardens, city and courtyard gardens, and underplanting shrubs in flower beds.
