The UK Made Barn Owl Nester has been developed in collaboration with experienced owl conservationists, providing an ideal nesting site for breeding barn owls. The design features straight sides and is constructed from lightweight, durable materials, offering a long-lasting home that's easier to install than heavier alternatives.

This flatpack nester is made from solid FSC certified timber and recycled agricultural plastic, ensuring it is both eco-friendly and robust. The slow-seasoned timber used eliminates the need for chemical treatments, stains, or artificial preservatives, making it safe for wildlife. The nester is lightweight, facilitating easier installation, and includes recycled plastic upper and lower hanging/fixing plates for additional durability.

Key features include a generous front platform and flat rooftop, providing ample space for landing and fledgling wing exercise. The deep interior space ensures chick safety, while the large front inspection door with a bolt allows easy access for monitoring. The floor is drilled for drainage and ventilation, ensuring a dry and comfortable nesting environment. Additionally, the nester is fitted with a camera clip, allowing for legal monitoring of this protected species without disturbance.

Siting Recommendations:

Barn owls prefer open countryside and are not typically found in woodland areas. The Barn Owl Box should be positioned high up, between 2.5m and 5m, ideally facing east, NE, or SE. Ensure there is a clear flight path to the box. To protect the owls from traffic-related dangers, avoid siting the box within half a mile of major roads. The ideal habitat includes vole-rich grasslands and less intensively managed areas.
