Established Wildflower Meadow 10 years old

The following pictures are taken from an established Wildflower Meadow in Stourport on Severn that is now 10 years old. One obvious question from the picture is how do you keep Poppies growing in a meadow that is this old. The answer; During the last few wet years, they had a lot of grass growth which is common in an established wildflower meadow. They combated this by scarifying a few patches each year after mowing and adding extra seed (including poppies) to those areas. They also routinely add yellow rattle seed. They also have a small patch in which they sow annuals in each year, so some of these self seed into the main meadow, too. [gallery ids="1575,1576,1574"]
