Description
Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass | Poa pratensis
Found throughout the UK in meadows and traditional pastures, smooth stalked meadow grass (known in the US as Kentucky blue grass) thrives on thinner, dry land as well as on fertile soil.
This is a very palatable species which is used for grazing, and is one of the most nutritious meadow grasses. It is tolerant of heavy grazing and heavy footfall so performs well in pathways and in heavily grazed pastures.
It can be sown at any time of the year if the conditions are suitable.
