Field Scabious Knautia arvensis

Common names include button blue and gypsy rose.

A pretty native perennial wildflower species which produces an abundance of blue-violet flowers from June through to September.

Field scabious will grow in most conditions if well drained, but will do better in alkaline soils. It prefers full sun and is a beautiful addition to a wildflower meadow or garden border. Ideal for a wildlife garden, field scabious is attractive to bees and butterflies and also provides food for seed-eating birds like finches.

Sow field scabious in the spring from March to May, or in autumn from August to October.

All our native wildflower seed is sourced from stock grown in the wild in Britain.  It is then multiplied up commercially and packed in the UK so you can be confident you are buying native British wildflower seed.
