Description
Corncockle Plug Plants Agrostemma githago
Common names include corn pink, joy of love, purple cockle, little and pretty, and wild poppy.
An upright annual wildflower growing to approximately 75cm in height, the corncockle bears magenta-purple flowers all summer and thrives in any sunny site in well-drained soil.
The flowers are suitable for cutting and are particularly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects. Deadhead to prolong flowering.
Perfect for all kinds of wildlife gardens, wildflower meadows, informal cottage gardens, and flower beds and containers, corncockle is a versatile wildflower with a long flowering season from May right through to September.
Our strong, healthy plants are grown in 40cc cell trays and are ready to be planted in their final position.
Sourced from native seed and grown for us in the UK, our plug plants are an ideal way to boost species in a wildflower meadow or to easily establish plants in your garden or in areas where seed germination can be erratic.
We recommend planting 5 plugs per metre square in groups of at least 3 per species for a naturalistic look.
