Water Figwort Plug Plants Scrophularia aquatica

Common names include water betony.

Water figwort is a versatile native perennial commonly found in wet meadows, streambanks, and marshy areas. Its distinctive greenish-brown to purple flowers attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

Thriving in moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade, water figwort is perfect for adding texture and interest to boggy or wildlife gardens. Its seeds provide food for birds, while its dense growth supports local wildlife. A great choice for enhancing biodiversity and natural beauty in wetland or riparian landscapes.

Our strong, healthy plants are grown in 40cc cell trays and are ready to be planted in their final position.

Sourced from native seed and grown for us in the UK, our plug plants are an ideal way to boost species in a wildflower meadow or to easily establish plants in your garden or in areas where seed germination can be erratic.

We recommend planting 5 plugs per metre square in groups of at least 3 per species for a naturalistic look.
