Purple Loosestrife Plug Plants Lythrum salicaria

Common names include spiked loosestrife and purple Lythrum.

These tall, dramatic plants with their distinctive spires of reddish purple flowers grow in wet habitats such as riverbanks, reedbeds, marshes and wetlands where they can be seen rising up around the other wildflowers and grasses.

Suitable for a sunny or semi-shady site, these native perennials are ideal for wildlife gardens, wildflower meadows, riversides and pond edges.  Purple loosestrife is an excellent nectar source for long-tongued insects such as the red-tailed bumblebee and the brimstone butterfly.

Our strong, healthy plants are grown in 40cc cell trays and are ready to be planted in their final position.

Sourced from native seed and grown for us in the UK, our plug plants are an ideal way to boost species in a wildflower meadow or to easily establish plants in your garden or in areas where seed germination can be erratic.

We recommend planting 5 plugs per metre square in groups of at least 3 per species for a naturalistic look.
