Highland Bent Grass | Agrostis capillaris
Highland bent, dryland browntop or dryland bent, is a short delicately flowered perennial grass species growing to a height of around 70cm. A loosely tufted grass with tiny seeds, it grows on most soil types but is particularly prevalent on poor acidic soils. It is drought-tolerant, low-growing and can be close mown. Highland bent flowers from June to August.
This grass species has a relatively low feed value but is widely used in grass seed mixtures for fine lawns, putting and bowling greens.
