Winter Aconite Eranthis cilicica
One of the first flowers to appear in the spring, the winter aconite's small yellow flowers can be seen between January and March.
Winter aconites have short stalks and tuberous roots and prefer the humus-rich moist soils of deciduous woodlands. They make a good companion plant for snowdrops and wood anemones.
Plant your winter aconites at least 12.5cm below the surface of the soil to protect them from harsh winter conditions. Allow their foliage to die back naturally.
