Golden Scale Male Fern Dryopteris affinis

Golden scale male fern, also known as scaly male fern, it is a robust semi-evergreen fern. Native to the UK, it commonly grows on moist soils in woodlands and on open heaths and hillsides. It thrives in light shade and will tolerate full sun and can be grown in most soil types which are well-drained.

The erect fronds of this tough fern, up to 160cm in length, have golden scales (remeta) on the stems. Leaves are light yellow-green, becoming darker green later in the year.
