Purple Loosestrife Lythrum salicaria

Common names include spiked loosestrife and purple Lythrum.

A native perennial species with tall spires of reddish purple flowers which thrives in wet habitats such as riverbanks, marshes and wetlands.

Ideal for wildlife gardens, wildflower meadows, riversides and pond edges, purple loosestrife is suitable for sunny or semi-shady sites and is an excellent nectar source for long-tongued insects such as the red-tailed bumblebee and the brimstone butterfly.

Sow in spring from March to May, or in autumn from August to October.

All our native wildflower seed is sourced from stock grown in the wild in Britain. It is then multiplied up commercially and packed in the UK so you can be confident you are buying native British wildflower seed.
