Meadowsweet Filipendula ulmaria

Common names include mead wort and bittersweet.

The frothy clusters of small white or creamy yellow flowers of meadowsweet have a sweet pleasant scent when they first open.  Flourishing in damp soils, this upright perennial species is commonly found in damp meadows or alongside streams and rivers.

Ideal for wildlife gardens, wildflower meadows and informal cottage gardens meadowsweet has a long flowering season from early summer to September.

It is attractive to many pollinating insects and is a food source for the larvae of several moth species including emperor moths and grey pugs.

Sow meadowsweet in the spring from March to May, or in autumn from August to October.

All our native wildflower seed is sourced from stock grown in the wild in Britain. It is then multiplied up commercially and packed in the UK so you can be confident you are buying native British wildflower seed.
