British Provenance Bird's-foot Trefoil Lotus corniculatus

Common names include hens and chickens, eggs and bacon and deervetch.

A low-growing native perennial wildflower with distinctive egg-yolk yellow flowers, bird's-foot trefoil is ideal for a wide range of grassy habitats such as wildlife gardens and meadows, as well as informal cottage gardens and borders.

The flowers are a great nectar source for bees and it is an important food source for the caterpillars of butterflies such as the wood white and the common blue.

Sow bird's-foot trefoil in spring from March to May, or in autumn from August to October.

All our native wildflower seed is sourced from stock grown in the wild in Britain. It is then multiplied up commercially and packed in the UK so you can be confident you are buying native British wildflower seed.
