Lowland Acid Grassland Seed Mix
Our Lowland Acid Grassland Mix has been developed to support the creation of Lowland Acid Grassland (UKHab g1) for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) habitat creation and restoration projects.
Formulated using a carefully selected combination of characteristic native grasses and wildflowers associated with UK lowland acid grassland, this mix is suited to nutrient-poor, free-draining acidic soils where it will establish a fine-textured, species-rich sward typical of this habitat. The grass component is based on the principal structural species of acid grassland, while the wildflowers have been selected for their ecological value, seasonal interest and importance for pollinating insects.
The mix performs best under light grazing or low-intensity cutting. Final vegetation composition will depend on soil conditions, management and time, with the best results achieved where fertility is kept low and competition is carefully managed during establishment.
Bespoke formulations are also available. Additional native species can be incorporated to suit specific site conditions, including particularly dry or seasonally wet locations, helping to create a mix tailored to your project.
Suitable for:
- Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) habitat creation
- Lowland Acid Grassland (UKHab g1)
- Ecological mitigation and compensation schemes
- Habitat restoration projects
