Mouse-Ear Hawkweed Plug Plants Pilosella officinarum

Common names include mouse-ear and felon herb.

A low-growing perennial wildflower with soft, downy foliage and clusters of cheerful yellow flower heads from May to September. Mouse-ear hawkweed thrives in poor, dry soils where few other species can establish, making it an excellent choice for green roofs, rock gardens, and dry grasslands. Its nectar-rich blooms support bees, butterflies, and other pollinators throughout the summer.

With its tolerance for drought and low fertility, this hardy wildflower adds resilience and biodiversity value to planting schemes. It spreads gently to form mats of silvery foliage and bright flowers, bringing colour and texture to difficult sites.

Our strong, healthy plug plants are grown in 40cc cell trays and are ready to plant directly into their final position.

Sourced from UK-grown native stock, these plugs offer a reliable way to introduce this tough, pollinator-friendly wildflower to your garden or wild space.

We recommend planting 5–7 plugs per square metre for a naturalistic effect.
